Colin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience working in community mental health, residential treatment, mental health courts, substance abuse and public social service. Colin has experience working with a range of clientele including childhood and adolescence, ADHD, family issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, conduct and defiance, child abuse and neglect, attachment, and couples.
Colin has a passion for art, writing, gardening, and an unyielding desire to remain constantly outdoors. Always priding himself on good humor, he considers providing therapy an opportunity to connect with others in a challenging and comfortable environment for personal growth.
In the therapeutic setting, Colin utilizes evidence-based approaches from what is known as a systemic and Gestalt perspective, focusing on the present issues in the here and now. Therapy hones the client toward learning an awareness of what you are doing. By focusing on the present, clients are encouraged to develop an improved self-understanding, and better accept themselves in a growth mindset, while worrying less about limitations that stem from the perception of others.
Sometimes, we all reach a place where the methods used to manage our day-to-day lives are no longer effective. This experience often leads to feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, and hopelessness before we realize we need help. We find ourselves in a place of frustration, repeatedly stuck in the habits obstructing our sense of peace and well-being.
I’d like to invite you to consider the question, “What if this is an opportunity in disguise?”
Part of my daily routine is writing. While I consider this part of my daily practice, some of the content will make it's way here for your review. It is my hope that it serves you well, and you find it helpful to improving your daily health and lives.
